Sarah Connolly takes the title role in Handel’s ancient Roman soap opera in which power-hungry, power-dressing Agrippina will stop at nothing to get her son Nero on the throne. Nero is more interested in the Roman beauty Poppea but, unfortunately, so are two other men, including his stepfather, the current Emperor Claudio. Stephanie Hughes presents the opera, with contributions from some of the stars of the show.
